The latest development from the Linux Foundation is the development of a formal file format specification for Lottie, a JSON-based vector graphics animation format. As a JSON-based vector graphics animation format, Lottie has received widespread attention in recent years, with support ranging from Microsoft Windows to integration with Adobe through plug-ins.
The Linux Foundation announced today that the Lottie Animation Community (LAC) will become a new format specification body. The community is composed of Google, LottieFiles, Airbnb, Hernan Torrisi, the original developer of Lottie, etc., with the purpose of formulating a formal format specification.
The Lottie Action Community, hosted by the Linux Foundation, will develop a formal format specification and work to promote and adopt this vector graphics animation format.
