According to the China Meteorological Administration, on January 31, the launch meeting for the development of the 03rd batch of Fengyun-4 meteorological satellites was held in Shanghai, marking the official launch of the development of the 03rd batch of Fengyun-4 meteorological satellites.Fengyun-4 Batch 03 includes three satellites: D, E, and F. Based on Batch 02, it will further play an important role in short-term nowweather forecasting, numerical weather prediction, artificial weather modification and other application fields, further improving observation accuracy and quantitative application level.
According to Lu Feng, chief engineer of Fengyun-4 optical satellite ground system, according to the new round of meteorological satellite and its application development plan, the in-orbit business layout of Fengyun-4 meteorological satellite requires more than two satellites to simultaneously meet the needs of serving the "Belt and Road" initiative and monitoring high-impact ocean weather.
Therefore, it is very necessary and urgent to plan and develop the 03rd batch of Fengyun-4 meteorological satellites in advance.

Fengyun Satellite 2025 Plan
Fengyun-4 meteorological satellite is my country’s second generation geostationary orbiting meteorological satellite.Fengyun-4 star A has reached its design life, star B is in orbit, and star C is planned to be launched in the second half of 2025.
In order to ensure the business pattern of "networked observation and on-orbit backup" in geostationary orbit,The 03rd batch of Fengyun-4 meteorological satellites will further optimize satellite performance, improve load performance, optimize load configuration, and verify some key technologies of the third-generation geostationary orbiting meteorological satellite - Fengyun-6 satellite, on the basis of ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the stationary meteorological observation business.
In 1997, my country successfully launched the first geostationary orbit meteorological satellite Fengyun-2A, which opened the prelude to my country's geostationary orbit meteorological observation.
In 2016, the Fengyun-4A satellite was successfully launched, marking the upgrading of my country's geostationary orbit meteorological satellites, and achieving the first three-dimensional detection of geostationary orbit infrared atmospheric temperature and humidity for the first time in the world, realizing the leap of my country's meteorological satellites from following and running together to partially leading.
In 2021, the Fengyun-4B satellite was successfully launched, further enhancing its short-term near-disastrous weather monitoring capabilities, and achieving minute-level continuous observation at a resolution of 250 meters in geostationary orbit for the first time in the world.
