I have complained before that although Microsoft uses various methods to forcefully promote Microsoft Edge, its market share does not seem to have changed much. As a result, it will be slapped in the face by Microsoft. The latest data from Statcounter shows that Microsoft Edge's desktop market share has increased by 1% compared with December 2023.
Although Edge's current market share is still much lower than Chrome's, it is already a very good result to grow by 1% in one month.
Of course, this may not be the result of forced promotion, or it may be that after Microsoft Edge integrates AI functions, many users are indeed attracted.
The latest statistics show that Microsoft Edge's market share at the end of January 2024 was 12.96%, an increase of 1% from the end of December 2023.
Chrome has declined 0.39% from the end of December 2023, but its current market share is still as high as 64.84%, which is several times the combined market share of other browsers.
Ranked third is Apple Safari. Although the desktop platform is Safari's weak platform, Safari also has a share of 8.83%, a slight decrease of 0.13% month-on-month.
Ranked fourth is Mozilla Firefox. Firefox's share has not changed much during this period, at around 7%. It is currently 7.57%, a slight decrease of 0.05% month-on-month.
Ranking fifth is the Opera browser, with a current share of 3.23%, down 0.57% from the previous month. This drop is still quite large.
So what is the share of these browsers on mobile platforms?
Chrome also has a share of 64.74% on mobile phones; followed by Safari browser, with a share of 25.07%; third is Samsung Browser, with a share of 4.39%; fourth is Opera, with a share of 2.15%; fifth is UC Browser, with a share of 1.36%.
The presence of Firefox browser on mobile phones is very weak, and there are currently no more detailed statistics.
