Tesla (TSLA.US) is recalling 2.2 million vehicles in the United States, including the Cybertruck, due to brake warning light problems. This is Tesla's largest recall, affecting nearly all vehicles sold in the United States between 2012 and 2024. It is reported that this recall involves Model S, Model X, Model Y, Model 3 produced from 2017 to 2023, and Cybertruck produced in 2024.
The recall will increase the font size of the brake, parking and anti-lock braking system (ABS) visual warning indicators to make them easier for drivers to read. Tesla began a software update on January 23 to address this issue.
NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation also upgraded its investigation into the power steering loss to an engineering analysis. This is a prelude to the possible recall of some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
Separately, the company is cutting the price of rear-wheel drive and long-range versions of its Model Y SUV by 6.9% in Canada, bringing it in line with the Model 3.
As of press time, Tesla's pre-market share price fell 0.8% to $187.35.
