DigitalFoundry shared an interesting video that shows the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super appearing to be 3 times faster than the Sony PS5. DF tested three games. These three games are "A Plague Tale: Requiem", "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Alan Killer 2". At the exact same settings and resolution, the NVIDIARTX4080Super is 3.2 times faster than the PS5. In "Cyberpunk 2077", Nvidia's GPU is 3.2 times faster. In Alan Wake 2, the RTX 4080S was 3.1 times faster.

Now the good news for PC gamers is that AMD's Radeon RX7900XTX can achieve the same effect. At least in rasterized games. In A Plague Tale: Requiem and Alan Wake 2, AMD's GPUs were able to match and surpass the performance of the RTX 4080 Super. However, in Cyberpunk 2077, the 7900XTX is significantly slower than the RTX4080S. Despite this, AMD’s GPU is still more than 2 times faster than the PS5.

Regardless, this video from DF shows the huge gap between high-end graphics cards and consoles. In theory, Sony could also launch PS5 Pro to close the gap.

Overall, current high-end GPUs are more than enough for PC gamers. Therefore, until the launch of PS6 and next-generation Xbox, high-end PC players can enjoy excellent performance on the system. And this is true for both AMD and NVIDIA.
