Apple has launched a redesigned iCloud for Windows app to provide a better content syncing experience for iPhone or iPad users without a Mac. The new app is available for Windows 10 and 11 and uses a new setup experience to make it easier for users to get started. It also has a sync status indicator for different services to better show how many items have been downloaded or uploaded.
In addition, users can also use physical security keys to log in to Apple ID. Additionally, the updated app reduces the frequency of login prompts, improves photo syncing performance with Mircosoft Photos, and displays easy shortcuts to access other Apple services.
Last September, Apple redesigned the online version of iCloud.com, adding features such as browser notifications for Mail and Calendar on PC, a custom homepage for taking quick actions, and a photo slideshow view.
In 2022, Apple announced for the first time the launch of independent applications for iCloud, AppleTV and AppleMusic on the Windows platform. Eventually, it launched a handful of apps, including Apple Music and Apple TV, in preview last year to replace iTunes. These apps are now out of preview and available as standalone experiences on the Windows platform. In addition, in terms of device management, Apple provides a standalone Devices application, so users do not need to install iTunes in advance, but the iTunes application still exists on the platform, mainly for users to access podcasts and audiobooks.
