Mitchell Baker announced today that she will resign as CEO of Mozilla Corporation but will retain her position as executive chairman of Mozilla Corporation. Laura Chambers will take over as Mozilla CEO until at least "the remainder of the year."

Laura Chambers has been on Mozilla's board of directors for three years and has worked at Airbnb, PayPal, eBay and other technology companies. She currently serves as CEO of Willow Innovations, Inc., a wearable smart breast pump company.

Laura Chambers will focus on Mozilla's future vision and strategy, as well as outstanding execution. Today's announcement points to future operating goals to "double down on our core products like Firefox."

Today is an important moment in our journey, and I'm excited to share some important news with you. After careful consideration, I have decided to transition from my position as CEO of Mozilla Corporation back to that of Executive Chairman of Mozilla Corporation.I have held many titles during my 25 years at Mozilla, and this move is about streamlining our focus and leadership to address the challenges ahead. I have been leading the Mozilla business through a transformation period while also overseeing Mozilla's broader mission. Clearly, both jobs require dedicated, full-time leadership.Laura Chambers, a dynamic board member, will assume the role of CEO for the remainder of the year. Laura brings a wealth of experience and has been an active and influential member of the Mozilla Board of Directors for three years. Laura’s impressive background, having led product organizations at Airbnb, PayPal, and eBay, and most recently as CEO of Willow Innovations, makes her well-positioned to guide Mozilla through this transition period.Her focus will be on delivering successful products, advancing our mission and building a platform to accelerate momentum. Laura and I will be working closely throughout February to ensure a seamless transition.
