The helloSystem open source operating system inspired by macOS and based on FreeBSD has released a new experimental version based on FreeBSD14.0. The helloSystem project aims to be the "macOS of BSD" and is one of the few very interesting BSD desktop projects currently.
It has been nearly a year since the project released version helloSystem0.8.1 based on FreeBSD13.1-RELEASE, and today is their latest experimental snapshot of moving towards the modern FreeBSD14.0 version. While PC-BSD and other desktop FreeBSD projects are gradually disappearing, I am looking forward to the new version of helloSystem.
FreeBSD 14.0 provides better hardware support and other improvements to this leading BSD platform.
Those who want to try the new experimental version of helloSystem 14.0 released today for developers and testers can find it on GitHub, which includes IMG and ISO versions for AMD64. I'll be back to reviewing and benchmarking once it's officially released.
