If the teaser video for The Pokémon Company’s upcoming collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum was enough to make you consider booking a flight to Amsterdam, then the impressionistic Pikachu promotional card might make you even more excited.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum, the museum has partnered with The Pokémon Company to host a special event designed to introduce young artists to Van Gogh's work and allow people to understand how Van Gogh was deeply influenced by Japanese art.

Emilie Gordenker, general director of the Van Gogh Museum, said in a press release: "This collaboration will allow the next generation to learn about Vincent van Gogh's art and life story in a refreshing way. The Van Gogh Museum and Pokémon International have used years of educational expertise to create a special experience for children, their guardians and, we hope, many others at the Van Gogh Museum."

In addition to live events taking visitors through a selection of Van Gogh's paintings and learning more about the stories behind them, there will also be an online exploration of Van Gogh's obsession with Japanese culture. Even if you can't make it to the museum to snag Pikachu in the Gray Felt Hat in person, you can order promotional items from the special series inspired by the collaboration through Pokémon Center. For those who want to go to the museum, the Pokémon x Van Gogh Museum collaboration will run from September 28 to January 7, 2024, and general admission tickets to the museum are on sale now (need to be purchased online).
