Google has confirmed that YouTube TV is rolling out support for multi-view on iPhone and iPad, but the feature won't be rolling out on Android just yet. Over the past week, more and more users have noticed that YouTube TV for iPhone supports multi-view functionality. The feature, which launched on TVs last year, allows users to watch four channels simultaneously. Recently, Multiview has added more customization features and can display four channels side-by-side at the same time.
On iPhone and iPad, the feature is available in the Home tab. One Reddit user shared a quick action picture (and live photo) of the feature, shown below, which isn't quite as advanced as TV, but is still useful, especially with March Madness going on this week.
Through an update to the YouTubeTV app for iOS, the multi-view feature is available on iPhone and iPad, but this requires a server-side component, YouTube confirmed on Reddit that the feature requires version 8.11 of the app.
What about Android system? Unfortunately, YouTube said that YouTubeTV’s multi-view feature will not be launched on Android for the time being. Specifically, it will launch "in the coming months."
Other recent additions to YouTube TV include a redesigned video player that displays sports scores while playing sports programs, and a new "last channel shortcut" that allows you to move between recently used channels. However, both features are not available on mobile devices and can only be used on TVs.
