Today, the well-known open source compression management tool 7-Zip launches version 24.02 Beta. This update includes a series of new features to improve performance. For example, for RAR format compression packages, the archive dictionary size can now be supported up to 64GB. Update log:
It is now possible to take advantage of new RISC-V filters to compress files into archives in 7z and xz formats
RISC-V filter can improve compression of executables compiled with RISC-V architecture
In the Windows version of 7-Zip, the LZMA and LZMA2 decompression speed for Arm64 processors has been increased by 20%~60%.
When encountering a RAR archive that requires a large amount of memory to decompress, such as a dictionary size exceeding 4GB, 7-Zip Graphics and File Manager will ask whether to decompress it.
The new parameter -smemx{SIZE}g is used to set the maximum memory limit allowed when decompressing RAR archives.
The dictionary size of RAR archives is now up to 64GB and the memory allowed for decompressing RAR is capped at 4GB by default
Adding the -y parameter to 7zg.exe (7-Zip graphical interface) can disable user confirmation and information prompts
7-zip adds a new option to display XXH64 and BLAKE2sp hashes in the right-click menu
New parameter -slmu will display the timestamp in UTC standard time instead of local time
The new parameter -slsl is applicable to the Windows command line version of 7-Zip, which displays the delimiter in the file path as / instead of the backslash used in Windows.
Note that 7-Zip still supports sha256 files using backslash delimiters
