Nintendo will focus on its "current" Nintendo Switch business until the end of March 2024, but noted that the platform will also support Nintendo's next fiscal year. Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said this in a recent interview with Japanese media "Nikkei". The full interview with the CEO has been blocked by a paywall, but some interesting tidbits from the interview have been picked up and translated.

As the consultant noted, the interview wasn't spectacular, but it revealed some interesting details about the Switch 2. In the interview, Furukawa pointed out that Nintendo will focus on the current Switch business during this fiscal year (FY24), which will last until March 31, 2024. However, the CEO also said that Nintendo will continue to support the "current" Switch in the next fiscal year (FY25). Nintendo's next fiscal year will run from April 2024 to the end of March 2025.
While this doesn't necessarily mean that Nintendo's Switch successor will be released between April 2024 and March 2025, Furukawa's wording may hint at this. Next year, the current Switch model will turn 7 years old, and recent reports indicate that Nintendo has already shown off a technical demonstration of Switch 2 during Gamescom in August this year. At the same time, there are rumors that the platform will be able to run "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" at 4K resolution at 60FPS.
As for the rumored release date of Switch 2 - a recent job ad may suggest that the platform will be released in the second half of 2024. Last month, we reported a rumor about the possible specifications of Switch 2. The SoC of the Nintendo platform is said to use the NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU, with 1280 cores and 8 cortex A78 CPU cores.
