Three days after Apple said it would release a software update to fix a bug that caused the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to overheat, sources can confirm that Apple is now testing iOS 17.0.3 internally. It's unclear when iOS 17.0.3 will be released to the public, but the update could roll out later this week or next week.

Apple did not provide any specific details about the bug it discovered, but said it would not degrade the performance of the A17 Pro chip through a planned software update. Apple also said that the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro is not the culprit, so the overheating problem does not appear to be caused by a hardware defect.
iOS 17.1 is currently in beta and is expected to be released at the end of October.
Apple also added that the overheating issue is also related to some applications overloading the A17 Pro chip, including Instagram, Uber, and the racing game Asphalt 9: Legends. Apple said it is working with the developers of these apps to resolve the issue. Instagram has released a fix update on Wednesday. Uber also updated its app today, but whether that fixes the issue remains to be determined.
Not all iPhone 15 Pro users are experiencing overheating issues, and it's unclear how many users are affected by the issue, but it should be fixed soon.
