Game publisher CD Projekt has spent more than $120 million on Cyberpunk 2077 since the game's abysmal launch. The amount includes updates to fix in-game issues and the development and marketing of the Shadows of the Past DLC. CDProjekt has revealed at its investor conference held on October 5 that the company has invested a total of PLN 178 million (USD 40 million) in the "Cyberpunk 2077" game itself.

The developer clarified to the media GI.biz that the vast majority of this figure is "not yet amortized" basic game development expenses, as well as preparation expenses for this generation update of the game launched in February 2022.

The company also revealed that the development and promotion cost of the Shadows of the Past DLC was $84 million.

According to CDP, development expenditure for the DLC amounted to PLN 275 million (USD 62.8 million), while global marketing costs were approximately PLN 95 million (USD 21 million).

In comparison, according to previous reports, the development cost of "Cyberpunk 2077" before release was approximately US$174 million, and the marketing cost was US$142 million.

CDP also announced that Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, is currently in the conceptualization stage and will be developed at its CDPR North American studio with the support of its Polish studio developers.

The developer also revealed that following the success of Studio Trigger's "Cyberpunk: Edgewalker" animation, the company is also cooperating with independent entertainment company Anonymous Content (which has produced the American TV series "Mr. Robot") to create live-action projects.
