According to news on October 10, Hubei’s former richest man Lan Shili criticized the sugar-free drinks promoted by some beverage manufacturers. Lan Shili, the former richest man in Hubei, the actual controller of Wuhan No. 2 Soda Factory, and the founder of China East Star Group, publicly stated that Yuanqi Forest, which focuses on sugar-free, is a false concept. It has indeed become popular for a while, but sugar-free does not really have no sugar, but uses sugar substitutes. It uses industry and hard work to deceive consumers.
"Many people are misled about sugar. Whether you get diabetes or not is not determined by how much sugar you drink. To be healthy, you need to drink drinks made from pure fruit juices like ours. The human body must eat sugar, and the cost and quality of our sodas are much better than theirs, and ours are healthier," Lan Shili said.
Lan Shili also publicly stated that China does not lack rich people, but it is too short of businessmen. The so-called rich people are ranked in rankings. "Now more and more wealthy people have become debtors. Businessmen don't know how to make money. They are just rogues. Without profits, companies cannot continue to produce." Therefore, Lan Shili believes that making soda is based on the essence of a businessman, in order to make good products and services and earn profits.
Prior to this, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization had released the results of an assessment of the health effects of aspartame.
IARC cited "limited evidence" of carcinogenicity in humans and classified aspartame as possibly carcinogenic to humans (IARC Group 2B), while JECFA reiterated the acceptable daily intake of 40mg/kg body weight.
JECFA concluded that the evaluated data did not justify changing the previously established acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 0-40 mg/kg body weight for aspartame.
