iPadOS 16.7.1 is also now available for iPad users whose devices cannot run iPadOS 17.
The build number of iOS 16.7.1 is 20H30. You can update your iPhone by going to the Settings app, selecting "General," then "Software Update." iOS16.7.1 is suitable for iPhones that are not supported by iOS17 but supported by iOS16. These include iPhoneX, iPhone8 and iPhone8Plus.
Apple's iOS 16.7.1 release notes are short and sweet: "This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users."
Apple has not yet updated its safe release website with details about new features in iOS 16.7.1. However, the likely assumption is that the update fixes the same vulnerability that was patched for iOS 17 users last week when iOS 17.0.3 was released.
