According to news on October 12, Huawei, which was once among Nanya's top three customers, is back with new mobile phones, but they are not happy because they cannot supply them.Nanya revealed that it has applied to the United States to supply Huawei DDR4DRAM and low-power (LP) DDR4DRAM, but it has not been approved by the United States.

However, although it has not been approved, it is happy to see Huawei mobile phones using products from other manufacturers. It believes that it will help reduce inventory and bring positive help to the stable recovery of the industry.

In Nanya’s view, as for the recent exemptions for Samsung and SK Hynix from importing key semiconductor equipment, the focus of the two Korean factories’ future new factories will gradually shift to South Korea, and the equipment sales exemptions obtained do not cover extreme ultraviolet light (EUV), so there will be no significant impact.

It is reported that Nanya's 10nm second phase is nearly completed. In addition to trial production of 8GbDDR4 products, it also includes 16GbDDR5DRAM products. It is scheduled to complete verification in the second quarter of next year and ramp up in the third quarter of next year.

Sources said that Huawei aims to ship 60 million to 70 million smartphones in 2024. At the same time, Huawei has added a sufficient number of orders to the supply chain to ensure that this shipment number can be reached throughout 2024.

It is understood that Huawei’s mobile phone shipments in 2022 will be 30 million units, and in 2023, it is expected that its annual shipments will reach 40 million units. The target shipment volume in 2024 is doubled compared to the full-year shipment volume in 2022.
