Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has been officially announced. In the future, we will see Xbox fully control Activision Blizzard's IP. For famous IPs such as "Call of Duty", we may even see some games return in the form of "remakes".

In an interview with the media after the deal closed last night, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick discussed the benefits of being acquired by Xbox and his future views on the acquisition. In the interview, he revealed this detail:

"I think one of the benefits of this acquisition is that we can take games that have been sitting in the library for the past 30 years and really remake them."

Of course, we don’t know why Activision didn’t do this themselves, but waited for Microsoft to do it. We can only speculate that financial factors may have affected their willingness to remake. With Xbox eager to increase its first-party game output and XGP lineup, it is indeed possible to adopt a strategy of remaking old games after the acquisition.

Currently, in the early stages of the merger of the two giants, Microsoft should still try its best to introduce more Activision Blizzard games into XGP. After everything is sorted out, you can look forward to the return of classic Activision Blizzard IPs.
