Windows 1123H2 is called "Windows 112023Update" and it may start rolling out as an optional update in the coming weeks. According to some retail partners who are in contact with Microsoft, the software giant is preparing to release the latest version of its operating system to the public.

One of the update's support documents confirms that the Windows 1123H2 update is (unsurprisingly) officially called "Windows 112023Update." Additionally, another support document published in the last week of September also clarified that there will be no changes to hardware requirements or certifications:

In this support document, Microsoft states that "The Windows 1122H2 version of HLK has been certified for the Microsoft Windows 11 client series 22H2 version" and will continue to be used for the updated HLK version of the Windows 1123H2 version. This means that all Windows 1122H2-ready apps and drivers will continue to work with 23H2.

Windows 1123H2 is a "mini" or package-enabled update of the current version of the operating system, Windows 1122H2. While Windows 1123H2 has all the features of Windows 11 Moment 4, such as Windows Copilot and taskbar grouping, you can also get these features on 22H2 by turning on the Moment 4 switch.

The main reason for Windows 1123H2 is to reset the Windows support cycle, which means it will take longer to get updates and security patches than 22H2.

As mentioned above, Windows 1123H2 includes everything in the Windows 11 Moment 4 update, but there are some noteworthy 23H2-specific changes.

For example, the "Chat" feature is now "Microsoft Teams (Free Edition)," which is similar to the existing chat feature but integrates better with other Windows applications.

The free version of Microsoft Teams is pinned to the taskbar of Windows 1123H2 or newer by default, supports mini communication UI, and allows you to chat or call with friends in just a few clicks.

Additionally, the new free Teams integration in version 23H2 also lets you use the existing Phone Link feature to link your Android phone to send and receive anything, including meeting links, using a regular phone number.

Since "Chat" has become "Microsoft Teams (free version)", this also means that Microsoft will cancel the "Chat" system button on the taskbar.

Other notable changes in Windows 1123H2 include:

There's a new button in Castflyout in Action Center to help you easily set up casting to your device. There's also a link for troubleshooting casting.

Device names can now be changed in Nearby Sharing.

For now, that's all Windows 1123H2 has to offer, but keep in mind that the above changes will eventually arrive in its 22H2 build.
