More details about the iPhone models that Apple will replace the iPhone 17 Plus have emerged, including expected screen size, resolution, and more. Hours after TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo discussed the situation with iPhone 17 camera suppliers, he revealed what he knows about the rumored "iPhone 17 Slim" device.

In his report, Ming-Chi Kuo mainly reiterated previous relevant reports. He said the device will have a 6.6-inch diagonal, which is larger than the non-Plus iPhone but smaller than the Plus version.

He also said that the resolution will be 2740x1260 and there will still be a mobile island. The device will be powered by the A19 chip and all components will be housed in a titanium-aluminum alloy frame.

The main reason for this shift is said to be that Plus-sized iPhones account for less than 10% of sales in any given year. Reports on Wednesday stated that iPhone 17 Slim is not specifically designed to replace iPhone 17, but is launched by the company in response to other design and usage trends.

Other rumors suggest the phone will cost $1,299 and feature a ProMotion display. The codename of iPhone 17 Slim is said to be "D23". Its body is thinner and the display opening is smaller.

The problem with slim devices is battery capacity. There's a reason the Plus and ProMax sizes have longer battery life. None of the rumors to date have discussed Apple's battery plans, but all else being equal, a thinner device means a smaller battery area and therefore shorter battery life.

The thinnest iPhone currently is the iPhone SE (third generation), which is 0.29 inches thick. By comparison, the iPhone 15 is 0.31 inches thick.
