According to the latest data released by market research organization Canalys, mainland China's smartphone market shipments increased by 10% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, reaching 70 million units.It is particularly worth noting that domestic manufacturers performed particularly well, occupying the top five seats in the market for the first time in history, while Apple fell to sixth place.

Data shows that vivo's shipments increased by 15% year-on-year in the second quarter, returning to the top of the Chinese market. With its solid offline channels and capturing the demand for "618" e-commerce, vivo shipped 13.1 million units and had a market share of 19%.

OPPO followed closely behind, with the release of new Reno12 series products, firmly occupying the second place with shipments of 11.3 million units.

With its new 200 series, Honor ranked third with shipments of 10.7 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4%; Huawei's shipments achieved a substantial growth of 41%, and was also the manufacturer with the largest growth among the top five, ranking fourth with shipments of 10.6 million units.

Xiaomi, relying on the strong momentum of its popular K70 series and flagship 14 series, returned to the top five with shipments of 10 million units and a year-on-year growth of 17%, with a market share of 14%.

Apple's shipment ranking dropped to sixth, with its market share falling 2% year-on-year, accounting for 14% of the market.

Canalys research analyst Zhong Xiaolei said that local Chinese manufacturers have demonstrated market leadership and have occupied the top five seats in the mainland Chinese market for the first time in history.

On the other hand, Apple is facing growth pressure in the Chinese market and is actively working on optimizing channel management. After achieving healthy inventory, it strives to ensure the stability of retail prices and protect the profit margins of channel partners.
