It's impressive to watch Apple sell people the nearly identical Apple Watch design year after year, adding a feature here or there but barely changing the look. That’s not a bad thing – no one really needs to buy a new watch every year, but it does make annual updates seem a bit tedious.
However, there are rumors that Apple will launch a plastic Apple Watch SE, which may bring new vitality to Apple. Last month, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman broke the news. In an email to subscribers of his PowerOn newsletter today, he said Apple is using plastic to make the watch "more kid-friendly," adding that this "allows the watch to come in better colors," in what could be the most exciting Apple Watch update in years.
The Apple Watch is a great-looking device, but people are getting a little tired of the same pastel-hued theme changes over the years. Apple has been tinkering with the colors of its products, such as its latest iMac, which looks great. Some non-Pro iPhones with richer colors are also pleasing to the eye, such as the green iPhone 12 mini. Imagine what would happen if Apple decided to make the Watch SE more kid-friendly?
It probably won't be the eye-popping greens, oranges and yellows of '90s Nickelodeon, but it's probably not out of the question to follow the path of a mid-cycle refresh of the iPhone in something like purple or banana yellow.
