Recently, the JD-2 engine independently developed by Star Glory completed three hot tests within a week, including 100s of variable thrust and high working conditions, long range of 200s of 90% rated operating conditions, and 200s of long range of 100% rated operating conditions, adding a cumulative working time of 500s.This is the seventh, eighth, and ninth hot test run of this engine.
Prior to this, the JD-2 engine had been completed one after anotherHigh and low working conditions, multiple starts, wide range variable thrust, high mixing ratio, long-distance test run, etc.Multiple functions and performance assessment verification.
During the variable thrust high working condition test on July 29, the combustion chamber pressure reached 111% of the rated working condition., further conducted a bias assessment on the engine's boundary performance under high operating conditions.
During the test run, the engine started smoothly and completed the adjustment of the set working conditions. The test results were consistent with the set parameters.
The completion of the high-working-condition test run shows that the engine's combustion device, turbine pump and other components can work reliably and coordinatedly under high-working conditions, and that the components and the entire machine have exceeded the design targets.
The reusable performance of the engine was effectively verified during the 90% rated operating condition test run on August 1.
During the test run, the engine started and climbed quickly, the working conditions transitioned clearly and quickly, and the performance indicators were accurately consistent with the preset values. After the test run, the engine was checked to be in good condition.
During the 100% rated working condition test run on August 4, the thrust chamber mixing ratio reached 3.8, the thrust reached 93 tons, and the engine chamber pressure and thrust reached the highest values for domestic open cycle liquid oxygen methane engines.
After the test, the engine was in good condition and met the overall performance index requirements of the SQX-3 rocket.
This test run further optimized the air seal blowing sequence and flow rate, the thrust chamber cooling diversion ratio, and the starting and shutting down timing sequence to achieve the purpose of reducing gas consumption and reducing the temperature and pressure starting/shutdown impact peaks;
The ignition circuit of the combustion device has been improved with independent dual-channel redundancy and anti-loosening/anti-loosening improvements at the core connection parts, which enhances the reliability of engine ignition and long-term operation.
The main stage timing of the three tests was set under the same working conditions, with an error within ±1%. The stability of the engine's reusable performance has been evaluated and verified.
In the future, the JD-2 engine will continue to conduct multiple high-frequency tests to quickly iterate and optimize the product's technical status.
JD-2 is a low-cost, high-performance, large thrust-to-mass ratio, intelligent, depth variable thrust liquid oxygen methane engine developed by Interstellar Honor for the medium and large liquid rocket "Hyperbolic 3" (SQX-3). It has entered the mass production stage.
On July 25, 2019, Interstellar Glory's Hyperbola-1 Yaoyi rocket was successfully launched. It was the first time that my country's private aerospace industry successfully launched into orbit with high precision, and was the first time that multiple satellites were launched into orbit with one rocket.
The next three failed, two were successful, and the eighth flight on July 11 failed again.
