On the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple has replaced the physical mute switch button that has existed on the original iPhone with a multi-function button "Action Button". When I first got the iPhone 15 Pro, I once thought that this button change was not good enough, because I have been accustomed to the existence of this physical button. After changing to ActionButton, although there are more customizable functions, the function of one-click mute in lock screen mode is lost after selecting other functions. It is a gain and a loss. However, after studying ActionButton and Apple's "shortcut commands" for a while, I discovered that I am indeed young...
The ActionButton is definitely a bigger upgrade than the 5X telephoto lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It even changed my habit of using the iPhone.
Apple provides 8 options for ActionButton on iOS by default. In addition to 6 commonly used functions, the seventh option is shortcut command and the eighth option is auxiliary function. The focus is on shortcut commands.
Everyone knows that using shortcut commands can allow the iPhone to complete many operations that could not be completed before, such as playing unique charging sound effects during charging, which was very popular in the past, downloading Instagram pictures with one click, etc., all operations are based on shortcut commands. This time, in addition to using shortcut commands, we also need to use a free App called [Actions].
This App does not have its own operation interface, but has some built-in "commands" that need to be called through the shortcut commands that come with iOS to complete more functions.
After we download Actions, click OpenShortcuts to enter the new shortcut option.
Search for Actions in the search bar at the bottom. You can see many options. Find [GetDeviceOrientation] under the [Device] item (get device orientation)
After selecting the confirmation status as [Yes] under the [If] option, the user can select the status of the iPhone. There are 6 default options: portrait (facing the user vertically), portraitUpsideDown (facing the user upside down), landscapeLeft (horizontal to the left), landscapeRight (horizontal to the right), faceUp (screen facing up), and faceDown (screen facing down).
After selecting according to your own needs, users can search for the operation you want to perform in the search bar at the bottom, such as "silent mode", "flashlight", etc.
It should be noted that when selecting functions such as silent mode and flashlight that are turned on repeatedly, the user needs to select [On/Off] in the options before the function.
When you need to turn off the screen lock function, use [Switch] and select the function status before the function.
Notice:After the function is determined, remember to delete the unnecessary [other] in the shortcut command, and move the function before the end condition, so that the function enters the loop statement, otherwise the function will fail.
When you set multiple shortcuts in different states, your iPhone can be held horizontally, screen upward, vertically, etc., and you can tap the ActionButton to achieve multiple different functional responses.
My personal settings are:
When the iPhone is held vertically, the ActionButton switches to silent/ringer mode;
When the iPhone screen is upward, the ActionButton switches the flashlight on/off;
When the iPhone is held horizontally to the left, the ActionButton turns on the camera mode;
When the iPhone is held horizontally to the right, the ActionButton first turns off the screen lock mode, and then starts the game "Peace Elite".
After testing, the iPhone has greatly improved the response speed of shortcut commands in the developer preview version of iOS 17.1. It seems that it is also laying out the ActionButton to further enhance the user experience of the iPhone ActionButton button. Go and give it a try.
