Apple's M3 chip was originally rumored to be launched this year to provide better performance for the MacBook Air series. But recent rumors suggest that the launch of the product has been delayed to 2024. The company may update both MacBook Air and high-end MacBook Pro models. So far, Apple has not updated the 24-inch iMac with the latest configurations. While Apple is preparing to launch the M3 chip for future Macs, the 24-inch iMac is still using the M1 chip.

Now there is news that Apple is already developing a new 24-inch iMac model with an upgraded core. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared the news, saying that Apple will launch a 24-inch iMac in 2024. In response, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman responded that the 24-inch iMac has been in the works for a long time. Although Ming-Chi Kuo did not mention the chip of the phone, Gurman speculated that it will be equipped with M3.

If Apple equips the 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip, it will skip an entire Apple Silicon generation. However, since the 24-inch iMac is a desktop computer with full performance release and usually a long service life, rather than a MacBook, the launch of the M3 chip will make it more popular. This means Apple can leverage the M3 chip in the iMac to deliver higher performance since it has no power consumption limitations.

Apple's new M3 chip is manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process and is designed to provide stronger computing and graphics performance. Additionally, the chip consumes less power, a valuable factor for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. There have been rumors that Apple plans to launch a 24-inch iMac equipped with M2 and M2Pro chips. However, that doesn't seem to be the case since Apple is already planning to end the M2 generation of Macs.

Apple is expected to release new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro next year using M3, M3Pro and M3Max chips. While the exact date isn't known yet, we're guessing the new Macs will be available between spring and summer. The company may release the 24-inch M3 iMac at the same time as the new MacBook. We'll share more details about the new Mac launch as soon as they become available.
