Apple today reminded developers planning to publish apps in the European Union to submit their reseller identities, and the App Store will share each developer's address, phone number and email address in response to the request. This information will be displayed on the developer's AppStore page.

The EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) requires Apple to verify and display the transaction contract information of all "dealers" who publish applications on the EU AppStore. Developers, regardless of size, that make money from the App Store through upfront fees or in-app purchases are considered traders.

The contact information of every developer classified as a dealer will be made public, a requirement that many developers have expressed displeasure with. Independent developers and small companies may not have a business address or phone number and are understandably reluctant to provide personal contact information.

Starting October 16, 2024, Apple will require trader status to submit app updates. Trader information must be provided before submitting the application for review. On February 17, 2025, apps without trader identity will be removed from the EU AppStore until the trader identity is provided and verified.

Since displaying dealer status is a requirement under the EU's Digital Services Act, Apple had no choice when implementing the feature. When an app is released in any of the 27 EU regions, the developer's contact information will appear on the AppStore product page.
