British chip design giant Arm is developing a new GPU in Israel and estimates it employs about 100 chip and software development engineers. The report pointed out that Arm is currently focusing on graphics processing for the gaming market. At the same time, if Arm decides to fully enter this field, the technology can also be used for artificial intelligence processing, just like Nvidia.

Arm's business model has always been unique. It does not develop or manufacture its own processors, but licenses intellectual property and chip development software to other chip companies.

This model has made Arm a neutral technology provider to the industry, but with the development of new GPUs, this situation may be about to change.

In addition, the Arm Israel team is also responsible for developing GPU components and software interfaces, including Vulkan and OpenGL, while working with emerging AI chip companies.

It is reported that Arm’s new GPU will use Neoverse technology and is specially designed for complex AI processing operations in data centers and terminal equipment.

This strategic move may help Arm compete with NVIDIA in the AI processor market. At the same time, Arm is also exploring cooperation with MTK and NVIDIA to launch PCAI processors to further expand its business scope.
