Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again strongly opposed remote work during the company's third-quarter earnings call and criticized people who work from home as being "out of touch with reality." Musk said people asking "why isn't everyone working from home" are giving off a true Marie Antoinette vibe.

"There's something really Marie Antoinette-esque about people saying why isn't everyone working from home? What about the people who come into restaurants and cook your food and deliver your food? I mean, how out of touch are those people who are working from home taking advantage of people who can't work from home," Musk said.

Musk has made similar comments about remote work in the past. He said in an interview in May that he believed remote working was "morally wrong."

According to Walter Isaacson's biography of Musk, the Tesla CEO's push for working in the office may have stemmed from his own workaholic tendencies - such as sleeping in the office.

His workaholic tendencies were also evident after acquiring Twitter last year. In November last year, Musk announced that Twitter employees would be required to work 40 hours a week in the office. The company has even converted some offices into bedrooms, and a former Twitter executive went viral for sleeping on the company floor.
