Apparently, AGDQ, a game speedrunning conference, has no rules that require speedrunners to be human: because a Shiba Inu named "Peanut Butter" will demonstrate his speedrunning technology for the 1985 platform game "Gyromite" on the Nintendo NES console at the upcoming AGDQ2024 charity speedrunning conference.
"Participation" preview:
In fact, "Peanut Butter" isn't alone. He is the partner of the streamer and speedrun player JSR_, who will also perform the "Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse" game speedrun during AGDQ2024.
This will be Dog's first time participating in AGDQ as a speedrunner, but "Peanutbutter" is clearly already a speedrunner in the game - he previously set a time of 25 minutes and 29 seconds in "Robot Components" in July. The result was officially recognized and even entered on Speedrun.com: JSR_’s profile showed that the change was recorded under the “Dog Assist” category of “Robot Components”. Although "Peanut Butter" is a de facto speedrunner, he does not have his own account.
JSR_ explained on his YouTube channel: "This took years of training. When he was a puppy, I realized that he was much smarter than most other dogs I had met, and I wanted to train him to do something special. Since I am a speedrunner, it made sense to me."
He also explained the origin of the name "Peanut Butter": In speedrunning, the abbreviation "PB" for "Personal Best" is often used, and the abbreviation of "Peanut Butter" in English is also "PB".
