Apple will contract TSMC’s first batch of 2nm production capacity, it is expectedIt will debut on next year’s iPhone 17 Pro series at the earliest. The report pointed out thatBoth iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will be the first to be equipped with TSMC 2nm chips, while the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air model will continue to use TSMC 3nm chips.

According to the plan, TSMC will mass produce 2nm in 2025, and the process will be carried out at Zhuke Baoshan Factory and Kaohsiung Factory.

Compared with N3E (3nm), TSMC expects 2nm to improve performance by 10% to 15% at the same power, or reduce power consumption by 25% to 30% at the same frequency and complexity.

As for chip density, the foundry is considering increasing density by 15%, which is a good degree of scaling by contemporary standards.

According to TSMC, the 2nm process uses a leading nanosheet transistor structure and will provide full-node performance and power advantages to meet the growing demand for energy-saving computing. With our strategy of continuous improvement, 2nm and its derivatives will further expand our technology leadership in the future.

All in all, 2nm will become the most advanced technology in the semiconductor industry in terms of density and energy efficiency.
