The 2024 World New Energy Vehicle Conference was held in Haikou, Hainan from September 27th to 29th. The theme of this conference was "Low Carbon Transformation and Global Cooperation". At the meeting, Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Passenger Transport Association Branch, believed that,Chinese cars will not be "stuck" because China's supply chain has strong consumer electronics soil.
Cui Dongshu further explained that Europe and the United States cannot block China's neck because we have an advantage over the entire vehicle in terms of positive and negative materials in the industrial chain.
We have transferred our advantages in consumer electronics. We are the world leader in mobile phones, the notebooks we make are the world leaders, and the home appliances we make are the world leaders.
(Chinese cars) use a lot of consumer electronics, and China has a strong soil foundation.They cannot restrain us. We are fundamentally very competitive in the world.
Cui Dongshu also mentioned the recent EU anti-subsidy investigation into China’s electric vehicles: other industries have gone through hundreds of anti-subsidy investigations. Moreover, the Chinese industry has not been defeated. The automobile industry will definitely become more and more prosperous with more setbacks, and the future development space will be even greater.
Cui Dongshu believes that electric vehicles are efficient and low-cost travel tools. Taking the high-speed rail or bus is not as economical and efficient as driving an electric vehicle yourself.
"We charge 6 cents per kilometer to drive an electric car, and 50 cents per kilometer for high-speed rail. Moreover, electric cars are an independent third space, bringing a good experience."
He said that the positioning of cars has changed from mechanical products to durable consumer products. Cars have changed from steel in the past to unsustainable products composed of chips, batteries, etc. The service life cannot be 15 to 18 years. If it is not old, we will also want to replace it.
