The world's richest man and Tesla CEO Elon Musk plans to conduct more campaign events for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, the most important swing state in the United States, media reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Musk has previously made high-profile appearances with Trump in the state.
Sources said Musk's appearance will be related to the pro-Trump "AmericaPAC" he created earlier this year, and the specific details of the plan have not yet been finalized. The committee has spent more than $77.6 million to support Trump in the November election.
Last Saturday, at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania (where Trump suffered an assassination attempt in July this year), Musk walked to the podium wearing a black "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) baseball cap. He shook hands and hugged Trump amid the cheers of the audience. Musk danced at the rally to encourage people to vote for Trump.
This is the first time Musk has appeared at a Trump campaign event since he announced his support for Trump in July this year.
Musk, 53, oversees a vast business empire that includes Tesla, SpaceX and social media platform X, which he acquired for $44 billion. Musk attended the University of Pennsylvania in the 1990s.
Trump will appear at campaign rallies in Scranton and Reading, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.
According to various mainstream poll data compiled by the US political tracking website "RealClearPolitics", in Pennsylvania, the support rates of Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Harris are evenly matched.
In addition, the "American Political Action Committee" created by Musk is calling on people to sign a "First and Second Amendment" petition and will reward those who successfully recommend voters in swing states to sign the petition. The petition will collect personal information from voters who "support free speech and gun rights."
Analysts believe that Musk’s move is aimed at locking in Trump’s potential supporters in swing states. These voters who actively sign petitions to express their conservative stance will become Musk’s special target in the future and will be mobilized to support Trump.
