Currently, in the official version of iOS 18.0, the notification center still uses the previous style. Multiple notifications popped up by the application will be collapsed by default, and users can expand all notifications by sliding. However, in the latest version of iOS 18.1 Beta 6, Apple has brought a counting function to the notification center. This function will separately count and display the number of notifications popped up by each application.

For example, in the picture below, X/Twitter has a total of 6 unread notifications. These notifications are also collapsed by default, but a corner mark will be added to the X/Twitter icon to show how many notifications there are.

This may be a good improvement for users who have installed a large number of applications and have a lot of notification content. You can see the number of notifications without swiping. Of course, this may not be very friendly to users with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Unless all notifications of this application are crossed out, the corner icon should always be there.

This feature is currently being tested in the iOS 18.1 Beta 6 version. If it goes well, the official version of iOS 18.1 is expected to be launched at the end of this month or next month. By then, users will be able to see this feature after updating to the new version.

Note: New features or improvements included in the beta version may not always appear in the official version, and some new features or improvements may be deleted in the official version or delayed to subsequent versions.
