Loongson reveals its first self-developed GPGPU graphics chip 9A1000, benchmarking AMD’s RX 550 from 7 years ago

At the Loongson Industrial Ecology Conference held today,Loongson Zhongke officially disclosed its first self-developed graphics card chip "Loongson 9A9100". Officially called GPGPU, which is a general-purpose GPU, it supports terminal AI computing. Loongson 9A1000 is expected to complete tape-out and obtain samples in the first half of 2025, and its performance is expected to reach the level of AMD's RX550 released in April 2017.

The RX500 series is a very successful product, especially the RX580, which is still used by many players today. The RX550 will even be revived occasionally. ASRock recently released a half-height blade card design.

RX550 uses GF14nm manufacturing process, is based on GCN4.0 architecture, is equipped with 512 stream processors, 128-bit2/4GBGDDR5 video memory, system interface PCIe3.0x8, power consumption is only 50W, and its performance is roughly equivalent to NVIDIA AGTX650TiBoost.

According to the official introduction, Loongson 9A1000 supportsPCIe4.0system bus, with128-bit wide LPDDR4X memory.

The number of computing cores, memory capacity, frequency, power consumption, etc. have not been disclosed yet. From the architectural diagram, you can see eight sets of computing arrays, as well as on-chip networks, level 2 cache, etc.

also,Loongson is already researching and designing the next generation GPGPU graphics chip "Loongson 9A2000". The performance will be greatly improved by 8-10 times, reaching the level of NVIDIARTX2080 and reaching the limit of current technology.
