According to news on October 25, China Manned Spaceflight officially announced new progress in the development of a manned lunar rover. A total of 14 joint teams composed of more than 40 units submitted a development plan for the manned lunar rover. After formal review, a total of 11 proposals submitted by the Fifth Academy, Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Aerospace Science and Industry Intelligent Robot Co., Ltd., etc. entered the expert review stage.

The China Manned Space Engineering Office organized experts to carefully review and evaluate the 11 plans from aspects such as advancement, engineering feasibility, and development basis, and finally two plans were selected.

They are:

1. The Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation takes the lead in cooperating with China FAW, Northern Vehicle Research Institute, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Huizhou Yiwei Lithium Energy Team

2. The Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation takes the lead in teaming up with the Guangzhou Automobile Group and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University team

These two plans have obvious advantages and have received engineering support and entered the detailed design stage.

In addition, 6 teams submitted solutions with their own characteristics and advantages in some individual technologies.

The project will adopt a post-subsidy approach to support six teams to carry out in-depth research on the plan, mainly focusing on the innovative design of the manned lunar rover and the development of individual advantageous technologies.

The six teams are:

-Tsinghua University team (United Aerospace Sanjiang Group)

-Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics team (jointly with the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Chengdu Guoxing Aerospace, and Beijing Lutan Technology)

-Chongqing University team (joint with Avita Technology (Chongqing), Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Chongqing Yujie Automobile)

-Zhuimi Innovation Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

-Shanghai Longchuang Automotive Design Co., Ltd.

-Shanghai Jiao Tong University team (joint with Beijing University of Technology, Xugong Group, SAIC Motor, and China Electronics Technology Group)

Our country has confirmed that it will achieve a manned moon landing by 2030 and will use the Long March 10 rocket to launch a lunar lander and manned spacecraft.

At present, my country's preliminary plan for manned lunar landing is to use two launch vehicles to send the lunar lander and manned spacecraft to the Earth-moon transfer orbit respectively. The spacecraft and lander will rendezvous and dock in the lunar orbit, and the astronauts will enter the lunar lander from the spacecraft.

Afterwards, the lunar lander will descend and land on a predetermined area on the lunar surface, and astronauts will land on the moon to conduct scientific investigations and sample collection. After completing the scheduled mission, the astronauts will take the lander up to orbit around the moon to rendezvous and dock with the spacecraft, and return to Earth with the samples on the spacecraft.
