Valve won't release new handheld consoles every year, saying it's unfair to players

The company hopes to wait for a technological leap that will significantly improve SteamDeck 2's performance without sacrificing battery life. Until then, the company doesn't see the need to release a next-gen device.

Young emphasized that Valve has publicly stated before that it has no plans to update SteamDeck frequently. However, the expert noted that the company is developing a second-generation product. Yang did not reveal any details about the device.

In interviews, reporters expressed concern about other companies' willingness to release more powerful portable computer models every year. Young said Valve is not interested in this approach.
