Samsung may be developing a "Galaxy S25 Slim" model, similar to rumors of the "Slim" iPhone 17 that may replace iPhone Plus in 2025. Korea's ET News first reported this, saying that Samsung may release an ultra-thin smartphone in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June) as a follow-up to the debut of the rest of the Galaxy S25 family a few months later.
Smartprix now shows a smartphone with the market name "Galaxy" and model number SM-S937U in the GSMAIMEI database. Smartprix said Samsung typically adds smartphones it's testing internally to its database six to seven months before releasing them, and the phone's model number is consistent with that of other Galaxy standard, Plus and Ultra phones.
Aside from the "U" indicating a U.S. release, other details are unclear. However, according to reports from The Information and ers, an ultra-thin model of the iPhone may be unveiled in the third quarter, and its price will even exceed Apple’s current most expensive model, the iPhone Pro Max, which is equipped with a 6.6-inch display and a rear camera.
Samsung may have to change some parts to accommodate a different design, so the ultra-thin Galaxy may have reduced processor, display, battery and camera functions. So if the AI capabilities in the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 16 aren't enough for you to upgrade, maybe next year we'll know if a truly ultra-thin design will do the trick.
