President-elect Donald Trump says venture capital firm and All-In Podcast co-host David Sacks will become the "White House AI and crypto czar."
In July of this year, Sachs raised money for Trump's campaign at his mansion. He also hosted a $300,000-per-person dinner at his mansion. Before that, Elon Musk was also appointed as co-leader of the Department of Government Effectiveness.
According to Bloomberg, Sachs, like Musk, will be a "special government employee" who can serve for 130 days per year and will not be required to divest or publicly disclose his assets.
The day before, Trump announced that former Republican Securities and Exchange Commissioner Paul Atkins would lead the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
According to the post, Sacks' responsibilities are as follows:
In this important position, David will guide government policy in artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency, two areas critical to America's future competitiveness. David will work to make the United States the undisputed global leader in both areas. He will defend free speech online and steer us away from Big Tech’s bias and censorship.
He will work to create a legal framework that will give the cryptocurrency industry the clarity it has been demanding and allow it to thrive in the United States.
Trump said Sacks will also lead the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, an independent advisory committee that already exists.
In a second TruthSocial post, Trump highlighted Sacks' experience at PayPal and his time starting Yammer.
