Two years after launching the latest generation model, Microsoft will stop making the Surface Studio 2 Plus all-in-one PC. In recent weeks, Surface Studio 2 Plus stock has begun to run low, and now Microsoft has confirmed that it is no longer producing the device.

Microsoft said in a statement: "Customers can continue to purchase Surface Studio 2 Plus through stocking retailers and partners. For out-of-stock areas, Surface Studio 2 Plus will no longer provide new purchase channels."

Surface Studio started out as a surprise addition to Microsoft's Surface lineup, with a touchscreen and a unique hinge that transformed the 28-inch display into a giant tablet for drawing. At that time, Microsoft had just launched Windows 10 and wanted to make desktop PCs exciting again, and Surface Studio was aimed at one of Apple's strongholds - creative people.

It now appears that Microsoft's innovative Surface Studio, once considered the ultimate all-in-one Windows device, has come to an end. While the Surface Studio has always been an expensive and niche device, there's nothing else like it on the market. Microsoft has been gradually withdrawing from various areas of the Surface business, and there are no successor plans for Surface Duo and Surface Earbuds.

This year, Microsoft is largely focused on its Copilot Plus line of devices, including the new Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7. The company also launched business versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 earlier this year with built-in Intel chips. After a prototype Surface Laptop surfaced on China's second-hand market in October, it looks like Lunar Lake versions of the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 will arrive in 2025.
