According to the China Government website, Mr. Ma, a citizen of Guanghe County, Gansu Province, reported through the State Council’s “Internet + Inspection” platform thatThe Guanghe County Branch of PICC Property and Casualty Insurance and the Guanghe County Marketing Department of Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance only cover compulsory traffic insurance for their company's new energy taxis, but not commercial insurance, resulting in the inability to purchase commercial insurance for some of the company's vehicles.
After receiving Mr. Ma’s message, the Inspection Office of the State Council conducted preliminary verification and forwarded it to the Gansu Provincial Government for verification.
After the Gansu Provincial Government received clues about the problem transferred from the Inspection Office of the State Council, it was transferred to the Gansu Supervision Bureau of the State Administration of Financial Supervision for careful verification and handling. After verification, Mr. Ma’s report of the problem was true.
According to the relevant notice issued by the State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration this year, property insurance companies are not allowed to refuse to insure compulsory traffic insurance, and commercial insurance is willing to cover all types of insurance. Large property and casualty insurance companies should actively underwrite new energy vehicle commercial insurance to ensure that all insurance is available and that consumers’ protection needs are met.
Some insurance companies did not fully implement the spirit of the notice and were unwilling to underwrite commercial insurance for new energy taxis due to high claim settlement expenses for new energy taxis. As a result, some taxi companies had difficulty in insuring and new energy auto insurance underwriting work was not carried out smoothly.
After urging, the relevant vehicles of the commentator's company have successfully purchased commercial insurance. The Gansu Supervision Bureau of the State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration interviewed some property and casualty insurance companies in Gansu, notified each company of complaints about new energy taxi refusals to insure, and required each company to handle them properly.Strictly implement policy regulations, prohibit compulsory traffic insurance coverage for new energy taxis, and actively underwrite commercial insurance.
