Recently, self-media on multiple platforms have released relevant news saying that "vehicle inspection periods have changed", "annual inspections are becoming more and more stringent", "OBD testing has been added to annual inspections of fuel vehicles", "old cars over ten years old may be forcibly scrapped", "the sky is falling for fuel vehicles", etc., which has aroused heated discussions among netizens. Some self-media bloggers said,"This year's vehicle inspection standards have been significantly improved, especially the introduction of OBD testing. If the inspection fails three times, the old car will be forcibly scrapped, etc."
In this regard, the reporter interviewed the Hangzhou Vehicle Management Office, inspection stations, 4S stores and other relevant units and found that some of the so-called "new policies" have actually been implemented long ago, while others are false news.
According to the staff of the Hangzhou Vehicle Management Office, this year’s annual inspection standards remain the same as before. There is no such thing as "more stringent than before". In addition, vehicle OBD testing was officially implemented as early as November 1, 2019.
Since OBD testing has been implemented for so many years, very few vehicles have failed the annual inspection due to unqualified testing. Even if they fail, most vehicles can be repaired; it is nonsense to say that they will be forced to scrap if they fail three tests.
The after-sales staff of the 4S store also explained that very few vehicles are repaired due to failed OBD or exhaust gas testing. Since 4S stores charge higher fees, many car owners choose to go to outside auto repair shops for repairs.
In addition, there are currently no new annual inspection regulations for fuel vehicles; the new annual inspection regulations are for new energy vehicles. It will be implemented from March 1 next year, and inspections of power batteries, motors, and electronic control systems have been added, which will not affect fuel vehicles.
