TikTok will be banned in the United States if its parent company fails to sell the short video app before the January 19 deadline, according to a ruling by a U.S. federal appeals court on Friday.

In response, TikTok issued a statement saying, "The U.S. Supreme Court has a tradition of protecting Americans' rights to free speech, and we expect them to uphold this principle on this important constitutional issue. Unfortunately, the TikTok ban law is based on inaccurate, flawed, and assumed information. Unless the TikTok ban law is stopped, more than 170 million Americans will be unable to speak after January 19, 2025."

According to a ByteDance insider, a reporter from the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily said that the company will resolutely appeal to the Supreme Court. (Reporter Chen Junqing)
