TikTok is challenging a federal order to shut down its operations in Canada. The company filed documents in Vancouver federal court last Thursday. In November, Ottawa ordered the dissolution of TikTok's operations in Canada after completing a national security review of the Chinese company behind the social media platform.
This means TikTok must "end" its operations in Canada, although Canadians can continue to use the app. TikTok asked the court to overturn the government order and suspend its effect while the court hears the case.
TikTok claimed that the decision was "unreasonable" and "motivated by improper purposes."
