No one likes an unexpected high bill, especially when the AT&T wireless bill isn't the usual $250, but a hefty $6,223. This is the shocking amount one Redditor was charged, and it was because he was accidentally placed on a single-day premium plan.

RedditorUsual-Guava-8899 claims to be a first responder and has been using AT&T for over a decade, all the time on an unlimited plan. They usually pay around $250-266 for four lines and some monthly phone installments, but last week's bill was slightly higher at $6223.60.

The subscriber said the only recent change was moving their line to FirstNet, a nationwide wireless broadband network for first responders.

Usual-Guava-8899 spent an hour on the phone with AT&T customer service, during which the customer representative and supervisor insisted that the bill was $205, even though the online account showed $6,223.

It turned out that when migrating the account to FirstNet, AT&T accidentally put the customer on a pay-per-use plan -- for just one day. In these 24 hours, he used 3097MB of data. The unusual charge of $2 per MB brought the total bill to $6,223.

The co-worker said they have contacted the company president's office to address the matter and users should expect a response later in the day. Two days later, AT&T still hasn't responded.

Usual-Guava-8899 wrote in an update to the original Reddit post that the president's office has referred the matter back to the store for processing. The store manager is apparently working on the issue, and the user also clarified that they did not travel abroad or take a cruise during the payment period.

This isn't the first time AT&T customers have received a bill of approximately $6,000. In 2022, TikToker Lulú received such a large bill just one month after using AT&T's plan called "Unlimited Start". As was the case this time, the company charged her $2 per MB for the 3,003MB of data she used.
