In the digital age, smartphones have become an integral part of our daily lives. According to a survey conducted in the United States by reviews.org,Americans pick up their phones an average of 205 times a day, which is equivalent to checking their phones every 7 minutes. Compared with 144 times in 2023, this number has increased significantly by 42.3%.

So what do you do when you pick up your phone 205 times a day? It’s roughly as follows:

80.6% of people check their mobile phones within 10 minutes of getting up

65.7% of people use mobile phones while going to the toilet

53.7% of people have used their mobile phone to send a message to someone in the same room

38.1% of people use or look at their mobile phones while dating

27% of people use or check their phones while driving

Among them, Millennials (aged 29 to 44) are the group that uses mobile phones most frequently. They check their mobile phones an average of 324 times a day (I don’t know if they are responding to work messages), and they use their mobile phones for an average of 6 hours and 2 minutes a day.

Generation Z (ages 13 to 28) checks their phones slightly less often, but spends the longest time glued to their phones. They spend 6 hours and 18 minutes playing with their phones every day, accounting for almost a quarter of the day.

In addition, 76% of people will check the notification immediately within 5 minutes after receiving it on their mobile phone, making it difficult to resist the temptation not to check it.

In order to reduce mobile phone addiction,One recommendation provided in the report is to adjust mobile phone screens to black and white mode and avoid using color, as a black and white interface may reduce the desire to look at the mobile phone.
