According to DigitalFoundry's latest blog, their sources have told them that the Nintendo Switch 2's chip will use Samsung's 8nm process, which may mean that the Switch 2's CPU and GPU clock frequencies are lower than some have speculated, and the final performance may be slightly higher than the base version of the PS4.
Shumaoshe said that Samsung 8nm is a bad process node and is very outdated in 2020, but Nintendo still chose it. Shumaoshe believes that the possible reason is that its demand is too small and Samsung is selling it at a low price.
Although Samsung's process node may be stronger than 8nm in the future, Shumaosha believes that Switch2 is unlikely to replace a more advanced process node during its life cycle. It will remain at this position until around 2035, when Nintendo launches Switch3.
Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to be announced before March 31, 2025.
