LinuxMint 22.1 "Xia" was released as a beta version in December and is currently undergoing final testing on its ISO before a stable version will be made available to everyone. According to the LinuxMint website, the Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce builds are all currently in testing, and if they pass, they will start being released in LinuxMint mirrors before being officially announced in a few days.
Although this is only a minor release in the Mint22 series, it is still a substantial update. It comes with a new power mode, "Dark Light" integrated into settings, Cinnamon 6.4, new artwork and other improvements.
For those unfamiliar with LinuxMint, versions 22, 22.1, 22.2, and 22.3 will all be based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with update support until 2029. Unlike other operating systems, LinuxMint does not require you to always use the latest version. If you are happy with version 22, you can use it until 2029 without any problems.
LinuxMint adopts a very conservative approach, and new changes are made gradually, giving users enough time to adapt to these changes. With this in mind, LinuxMint is especially popular with those who are more focused on getting their work done rather than patching their systems. The taskbar of Cinnamonedition is not much different from Windows, so it is very popular among users who switch from Windows to LinuxMint.
If you want to get Linux Mint 22.1 as soon as the ISO tests pass, it's best to check on the third-party mirrors page, as it tends to get there first so it can be linked to them in the official announcement a few days later.
If you are already running Mint22, you will eventually be able to upgrade through the update manager; if you are running the 22.1 beta, you can also upgrade by applying available updates.
