This October marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) by Richard Stallman. To commemorate forty years of supporting the free software movement, they held a logo contest to commemorate this milestone. Today, the winning logo was officially announced:
The Free Software Foundation's logo will be used on their website, printed materials, and other promotional materials.
As this logo was designed for the FSF, the design requirements for this logo competition were that it could only be produced using free software editing tools, any fonts must comply with the SILOpenFont license or similar, and the text/images must not violate the Safe Spaces policy. The winning design was produced using GIMP.
