The first month of 2025 is almost over, and we're starting to hear more about the new products Microsoft is preparing to announce this year. First, Microsoft has confirmed that it will hold a Surface event on January 30, where it plans to release the next-generation device for business customers. As for regular customers, some interesting stuff may be coming in the spring. A new report reveals the latest details about Microsoft's upcoming Surface devices.
According to WindowsCentral reports, Microsoft plans to launch two compact computers equipped with ARM processors. One will join the Surface Pro family, and the other will be aimed at those who prefer a traditional laptop.
Sources inside Microsoft said that despite the smaller size, Microsoft does not intend to compromise on high-end feel and quality, and the 11-inch Surface Pro is designed to compete directly with Apple's 11-inch iPad Pro. So, the device will be uncompromising when it comes to display refresh rate, stylus support, accessories, and more.
As for the smaller Surface Laptop, it's intended to replace the hardware-compromised Surface Laptop Go. The upcoming model will feature a backlit keyboard, a high-resolution display with touchscreen support, and a full metal casing, features that are missing from the current Surface Laptop Go.
As for processors, Microsoft plans to use Qualcomm's entry-level Snapdragon X processors, namely the Snapdragon XPlus and the recently launched Snapdragon X. These processors should allow Microsoft to price its upcoming device around $800. It’s worth noting that if you don’t mind a larger display, you can buy the Snapdragon X-powered Surface Pro 11 for far less than its original price. However, if you want a smaller device, your only option is to wait and see until April or May, when the rumored device should be officially announced.
