On November 20, Beijing time, OpenAI’s newly appointed interim CEO Emmett Shear announced his 30-day “new policy” on Monday. He plans to reform OpenAI's management and launch an investigation into the ouster of co-founder and former CEO Sam Altman.

Hill posted on X on Monday, talking about his experience as interim CEO of OpenAI. He said that he received a call from the OpenAI board of directors and was invited to consider a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to become the interim CEO of OpenAI. After talking it over with his family and thinking about it for several hours, he accepted.

Hill said that his first priority will be to ensure the stability of OpenAI and serve the company's customers well. In the next 30 days, he formulated a three-point plan:

--Hire an independent investigator to delve into the entire process leading up to Altman's ouster and produce a full report.

--Continue to communicate with as many employees, partners, investors, and customers as possible, take notes, and share key takeaways.

--Reforming the management and leadership team in light of recent departures to become an effective force capable of delivering results for clients.

Referring to Altmann's ouster, Hill said the matter was "handled extremely poorly and severely damaged our trust." Hill said he has nothing but respect for what Altman and the entire OpenAI team have created.

On Sunday local time, OpenAI appointed Hill, the former CEO of game live broadcast company Twitch, as its new interim CEO to replace the previous interim leader Mira Murati. After Altmann was ousted, Mulati served as interim CEO, but she has been working to bring Altmann back to the company, causing dissatisfaction among the board of directors.

Hill was able to win over OpenAI’s board because of his past recognition of the existential threats posed by artificial intelligence, people familiar with the matter said. Hill is a computer scientist who has spent more than a decade building Twitch into one of the most successful video platforms in the world. He is considered qualified to lead a large engineering team.
